The journey of architectural millwork: From design to installation

Custom millwork is more than just furniture- it is an investment in the space that adds personality to a home, hotel, or commercial space. It includes cabinetry, moldings, paneling, built-in pieces, and furniture. At Fabricarte, we work closely with architects and designers while providing meticulous craftmanship.

So how does it all work? Here’s a look at how we guide every client in their journey from concept to completion.

1-   Understanding your vision.

Every project begins with a conversation. Whether you are an architect, or interior designer, we start by listening. We need to absorb the details of your project, its location, its purpose -for example, is it a rental property or personal residence? – and most importantly, the details about each piece.

2-   Thoughtful design and project planning.

At this stage, we begin to study each design in depth: dimensions, lighting, and materials. We collaborate closely with the builders and appliance providers to ensure seamless integration with the overall project. This is where we can contribute the most by making smart suggestions to improve functionality, longevity and aesthetics. The goal is to try to minimize -or, if possible, eliminate! - any surprises during installation.

3-   Samples and final drawings

Once all the details are mapped out, our project managers -who are also architects and/or interior designers- translate all the information into precise technical drawings. We work with clients to select stains, finishes or specific samples that match the chosen wood species.

4-   Expert craftmanship

Now, its our woodworker’s time to shine. Our skilled team uses traditional woodworking techniques to ensure quality and attention to detail. Project managers remain involved throughout production to make sure your vision is faithfully realized.

5-   Rigorous quality control

Before any piece leaves our workshop, it undergoes a thorough inspection. We check dimensions, structural integrity, finish quality, correct stain or lacquer and overall aesthetics.

6-   Delivery and installation

Finally, we send the installation team and pieces to the project site. Millwork interacts with walls, lighting, and flooring, so our project managers carefully supervise the process to achieve a flawless result and handle any challenges along the way.
